As part of our Shared Services group, comprised of Finance, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, Commercial, Legal and Facilities, we support the business achieve their goals through a range of strong technical capabilities. We ensure delivery of services through the skills of our people, methodologies, and systems.
The Fitness Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering safe, engaging, and effective 45-minute cardio aerobic group fitness classes for participants of varying fitness levels. The instructor will motivate members, demonstrate proper exercise techniques, and create a positive and energetic environment that supports health, wellness, and fitness goals. This is a 12-month contract position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and instruct 45-minute cardio aerobic classes in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
- Design class routines that improve cardiovascular endurance, coordination, and overall fitness.
- Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and provide modifications for different fitness levels and physical abilities.
- Monitor participants during class to ensure safety and proper form.
- Motivate and encourage participants to achieve their fitness goals.
- Maintain high energy levels and create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere.
- Prepare and organize music, equipment, and class materials prior to each session.
- Ensure fitness equipment is used safely and stored properly after class.
- Respond appropriately to participant questions, concerns, and emergencies.
- Follow facility policies, health and safety standards, and emergency procedures.
- Promote fitness programs and encourage participant retention and engagement.
Qualifications
Required
- Certified Group Fitness Instructor (e.g., Canfitpro, ACE, AFAA, YMCA, or equivalent).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience teaching group fitness or aerobic classes.
- Strong knowledge of exercise principles, cardiovascular training, and injury prevention.
Preferred
- Experience teaching cardio dance, HIIT, step aerobics, or other group fitness formats.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fitness levels.
Skills and Competencies
- High-energy and motivational coaching style.
- Strong leadership and presentation skills.
- Ability to adapt workouts to meet participant needs.
- Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lead and actively demonstrate exercises for a 45-minute class.
- Ability to lift and move fitness equipment as required.
- Maintain a professional appearance and active lifestyle consistent with the role.
Working Conditions
- Group fitness studio, wellness facility.
- During the time frame of 11:30 am to 1:15pm (Mon-Fri)
- Exposure to loud music and active fitness environments.
Pay: $60 per session
