Hatch is seeking a Hydrometallurgy Student with an interest in metals processing for an internship starting Fall 2025. Reporting to the Global Director of Hydrometallurgy, you will support local and international projects working from our Mississauga Head Office.
Hatch has been serving the world’s mining and metals industry with studies, design, engineering, development of innovative technologies, and project and construction management through to commissioning and operations for both greenfield and brownfield facilities.

As the selected candidate, you will:
- Problem solving skills pertaining to project work;
- Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team environment, with focus on assisting the process team;
- Assistance with development of design criteria, mass and energy balances;
- Assistance with Interpretation of simulation data, and field data as well as development of test work programs;
- Assistance with preliminary equipment sizing, materials selection, process facility layout, hazard studies, and cost estimation;
- Management of work within the scope, schedule, and budget provided by the process engineer.
- Report writing.
You bring to the role:
- 3rd or 4th year student pursuing a relevant Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Extractive Metallurgy degree from a recognized University.
- Interest in metals processing.
- Strong academic record.
- Ability to evaluate metals (copper, nickel, cobalt, lead, zinc, tin, lithium, potash, phosphate, vanadium, uranium etc.) processes by applying concepts of chemistry, heat and mass transfer, and thermodynamics to assist in the process modeling and design of process plants.
- Ability to effectively utilize written and oral communication skills to describe, depict and explain their work to other team members.
- Must have proven skills with MS Excel, Word, and Power Point.
