As Hatch’s business continues to grow globally, effective insurance and risk management play a critical role in supporting project delivery, protecting our people and assets, and helping the organization manage risk in an increasingly complex operating environment. Our Corporate Insurance and Risk Management Team is seeking a motivated Insurance Specialist / Insurance Coordinator to partner closely with Legal, Finance, Procurement, Project Delivery, Human Resources, and Executive Leadership and to assist senior members of the Corporate Insurance and Risk Management team to oversee a sophisticated global insurance program.  Applicable insurance lines may include

  • Builders Risk
  • Marine Cargo
  • Automobile
  • Cyber

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Program Administration, Compliance, Reporting and Documentation

 

  • Maintain organized records of insurance policies, schedules, renewals, endorsements and related documentation.
  • Coordinate the collection, review, and filing of insurance records and ensure documentation is complete and retained in accordance with company policy.
  • Assist with annual insurance renewal processes.
  • Support insurance compliance programs involving subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, vendors and partners,
  • Maintain insurance databases, portals and tracking systems.
  • Support collection of underwriting information and exposure data required for program renewals.
  • Assist in reviewing policy wordings, endorsements, and coverage summaries.
  • Coordinate information requests between internal stakeholders and brokers.
  • Monitor renewal timelines and support insurance program reporting.
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Assist with creation and implementation of policies, processes and procedures that aim to increase the department’s efficiency and effectiveness.  

 

Certificate of Insurance (COI) Management

 

  • Review requests for Certificates of Insurance (“COI”).
  • Coordinate issuance of COI’s through brokers and insurers.
  • Verify compliance with contract insurance requirements.
  • Track certificate expirations and renewal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of certificates and endorsements.

 

Risk Assessment and Exposure Analysis

 

  • In conjunction with legal, commercial, procurement and project teams, assist with identifying insurance exposures associated with projects, operations, and business activities.
  • Support development of risk assessments for new opportunities, acquisitions, and business initiatives.
  • Collect and analyze exposure information to support insurance placement decisions.
  • Support risk management initiatives aimed at reducing losses and improving operational resilience.
  • Support project teams with insurance-related enquiries and documentation requests.

Qualifications

 

Required

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience in insurance, risk management, finance, claims, underwriting, brokerage, legal services, project administration, or a related field.
  • Relevant co-op, internship, or placement experience will be considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Team oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and develop expertise in insurance and risk management.

 

 

 

 

Base salary range: $43,000 - $70,000

 

At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. In accordance with legislated pay transparency requirements, the expected salary range for this position is based on current market data and aligned with internal pay structures to ensure consistency and fairness.

 

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include 
performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
