Looking to get the most out of your upcoming internship?

 

Hatch is seeking a Piping Designer Co-op Student with an interest in Mining and Metals for a 12-month internship starting January 2025. Reporting to HPM Piping Design Lead, you will support projects globally, working from our Mississauga Head Office.

 

The High-Pressure Metallurgy Group is part of the Base Metals division within Hatch. The group is responsible for the design, construction and commissioning of autoclaves used globally for the recovery of minerals such as gold, nickel, uranium, and other precious metals.

As the successful candidate, you will participate in the: 

  • Development of 3D models in an integrated CAD environment
  • Preparation of and updates to project deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping & Instrumentation Drawings (P&ID) and pipe isometric drawings
  • General Arrangement drawings of piping and plant layouts
  • Development of piping and plant layouts for various industrial processes

 

You bring to the role: 

  • Enrolled in a Mechanical Engineering Technology program at an accredited College
  • Strong academic record
  • Interest in mining/metals industry

 

Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes): 

  • Good understanding of engineering and business fundamentals as they apply to engineering problems and projects  
  • Ability to learn quickly and to take on new challenges  
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills  
  • Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving, and brings forward solutions for our clients' toughest challenges
