You should be familiar with current grid modernization technologies, leading-edge projects underway across the sector, and an awareness of existing and developing regulatory drivers for grid modernization.  Example project experience could grid automation, autonomous self-healing, advanced protection & controls, ADMS modular implementation, DER (including EV chargers & utility scale batteries) integration & management, control room upgrading, SCADA & Communication system upgrades, AMI data utilization, and big data analysis.  **This role can be based out of any Hatch office in Canada

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • Min of 15 years of career experience working in / with electric T&D utilities
  • Experience in grid innovation / modernization technology deployment roles
  • Experience in distribution system design, commissioning, operations, asset management, and capital planning
  • Experience helping utilities resolve challenges such as needing to upgrade aging infrastructure to accommodate increasing DER penetration, bidirectional power flows, increased resilience & reliability, while accounting for prosumer interest, regulatory advancements, and tight capital budgets
  • Experience leading proposal developments
  • Strong technical writing ability
  • Professional Engineer license

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional Credentials
    • MS in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems or a MBA
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation 
  • Additional Distribution System experience
    • Experience with the design, installation, and/or commissioning of grid innovation projects
    • Development and/or implementation of grid modernization roadmaps / programs that could include increased system automation, AMI implementation, advanced P&C systems, (A)DMS deployment, FLISR systems, microgrid planning, and grid edge field devices and DER communications infrastructure.
  • Additional Project Management Experience
    • Have led all project management tasks including cost/budget, schedule, and deliverables reporting
    • Experience with project controls, document control, and managing multiple stakeholder interests during the design and/or project implementation
    • Managed multi-disciplined teams of engineers, designers, and 
  • Business development and sales experience to T&D utilities across North America
