Title:  Regional Manager – Power Delivery & Integration, North America  

Possible home office locations for this position include Hatch HQ (Mississauga ON), Montreal (QC), Boston (MH), Pittsburg (PA) or Houston (TX).

This is a senior management position within the eGRID group of the Power Business Unit of Hatch. The successful candidate will manage the North American operations for the transmission and distribution (T&D) business consisting in primarily project delivery and system planning studies of ac and dc power transmission, stations and distribution systems.  In addition, the PD&I group provides technical support to other groups in Hatch for strategic, organizational and financial consulting work for Utilities and industrial clients.

Power Delivery Projects - include front-end pre-feasibility and feasibility studies and execution-stage project delivery.  This includes EPCM project delivery services, Owner’s Engineer services, Project/Construction Management services, and pure engineering services. Projects cover both ac and dc systems.

Grid Integration & Development – include power system performance/planning, power system operations planning and system design studies for both ac and dc transmission systems and for power distribution systems, as well as interconnection and curtailment studies.

The successful candidate will be responsible for marketing T&D services throughout North America (and supporting select marketing pursuits internationally), and for managing the effective delivery of these services to clients.  Reporting to the Senior Director - PD&I, and working closely with other regional leaders in other regions, the Regional Manager – North America will ensure that all project delivery services and system planning services are completed in accordance with applicable codes and standards, Hatch corporate policies and processes and to the full satisfaction of clients.

The key responsibilities of the Regional Manager – North America will include:

  • Business development, client engagement, generating new business leads, securing service agreements and work orders, key account management
  • Oversight of profitable delivery of services in the two broad practice areas
  • Oversight and leadership of staff
  • Ensure project compliance with safety, quality and environmental objectives, and appropriate use of the Hatch QMS, SMS and EMS and other Hatch systems
  • Oversight of effective management of client project risks by company project teams, through deployment of risk identification and analysis frameworks and active management of said risks throughout project execution
  • Drive and manage growth across PD&I disciplines

  • Management of administrative and marketing overheads within the PD&I North American operations

  • Resource planning for delivery of PD&I assignments, utilizing PD&I specialist resource pools worldwide. Identify recruitment needs and oversee recruitment initiatives for North American requirements.

  • Develop and expand the PD&I consulting capabilities through thought leadership activities, such as keynote, panelist, workshop lead at symposiums/conferences, whitepaper and webcast.

  • Act as Project senior Advisor, project Director and/or Project Sponsor
  • Establish and implement improvements to existing methods, procedures and toolset


  • A degree in Electrical Engineering; preference will be given to candidates with post-graduate (Master or PhD) degrees in Power System Planning
  • 15+ years of professional experience in the design and execution of power transmission, substation and distribution projects, in particular with project experience at voltages of 230 kV and higher
  • Proven sales and delivery track record, ability to leverage existing industry contacts to secure new business opportunities
  • Experience and recognized leadership & management skills for leading a team in delivering steadily added-value and quality
  • Public speaking expertise, including ability to handle complex discussions with senior executives
  • Highly organized, responsive, and decisive
  • Connections with senior decision makers in power utility and power project development companies across North America.
  • Proven HSE mindset & leadership
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills in English is a must. Proficiency in a second language (French) is desirable.
  • Project-related or Business-related travel, in North America as well as at the international, is required.
