Process and Simulation Engineer

 

Hatch is currently looking for an engineer to specialize in modeling and simulation for its Montreal or Mississauga office.

 

Job Description:

Analysis of complex industrial systems focused on capacity planning, debottlenecking and optimization of production lines. Design, improvement and implementation of integrated solutions related to material, human and financial aspects through the application of analytical, discrete event and other simulation engineering skills.

- Capacity analysis

- Dynamic discrete event simulation

 

 

Responsibilities

- Analyze data from a process

- Perform observations or surveys on industrial sites

- Perform calculations and develop simulation models

- Conduct studies and provide recommendations to clients and internal project teams to optimize capital efficiency under different configurations and operating strategies and to improve operations;

- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams

- Contribute to business development as well as develop the practice of simulation and data analysis at Hatch by writing papers, attending conferences, and connecting with clients and industry members;

- If the candidate has a background in process engineering, the role may expand to :

o Develop process flow diagrams, mass and heat balances, design criteria and design bases

o Perform equipment sizing and write technical specifications

Technical

- Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in chemical, metallurgical, mining or industrial engineering.

- Experience with at least one type of simulation and a strong interest in simulation in general;

- Proven programming skills in at least one programming language (e.g. Python);

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;

- Working knowledge of probability and statistics applied to engineering;

- Basic skills with discrete event simulation software, e.g. Arena, Simul8, Simio, etc. 

 

Interpersonal

- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills;

- Team player;

- Strong interest in modeling and simulation;

- Self-starter;

- Commitment to delivering high quality work.
