As part of our Shared Services group, comprised of Finance, Marketing, Communications, Human Resources, Commercial, Legal and Facilities, we support the business achieve their goals through a range of strong technical capabilities. We ensure delivery of services through the skills of our people, methodologies, and systems.
 

The Accountant will be very hands-on as part of the project team to handle the Project/JV accounting, task forecasting and invoicing of an existing large project, running the full JV accounting and reporting, and ensuring proper collaboration with joint venture partners, project management, project controls and commercial groups, and various areas of corporate finance, accounting.

There are two required joint venture financial reporting to manage.

• Understand corporate financial systems (SAP, QuickBooks) and company procedures to help facilitate project execution of the JV accounting deliverables
• Coordinate with project and corporate teams of both JV partners to ensure proper data capture into the JV systems including manual entry into the QuickBooks system
• Execute the JV accounting in accordance with IFRS standards and corporate policies, treating the JV as a separate company with its own general ledger, receivables, payables, balance sheet, income statement, etc.
• Task forecasting and tracking/monitoring of actuals vs budgets
• Handle all associated tasks: tax filings (HST), cash transactions (cash receipts and payments to all Vendors), invoicing (assist with preparation and track all invoices submitted to client monthly), and cost allocations of JV Partner Invoices and Sub-Consultant
• Coordinate and/or prepare client invoicing, margin/profit calculations and distributions
• Prepare monthly financial statements for distribution to JV Executive Committee members, and corporate teams
• Prepare various project analysis as part of the monthly financial reporting
• Other duties that may arise

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or other relevant disciplines

• CPA program an asset

• 4 or more years experience preferably in engineering and construction company environments
• Exposure to and/or experience in project accounting, project financial controls and reporting, detailed account reconciliations
• Exposure to and/or experience in handling bank transactions using online banking platforms for making EFT payments
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Proficient computer skills: SAP or related ERP systems, QuickBooks and other standard MS Office tools especially Excel
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct detailed reconciliations, variance analysis and detailed task forecasting
• Knowledge and/or exposure to the complexities of project invoicing, outstanding billed and unbilled reporting etc.
• Self starter that has good attention to detail

Base salary range: $59,000 - $95,000
