Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Manager - Rail to join the Infrastructure group in our Rail & Transit team in the Mississauga location.

The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible to manage, coordinate, administer and deliver the area of the project within the scope, cost and schedule baseline and ensuring the area of the project is delivered within the safety, quality and environmental objectives agreed for the project.


As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Carries clear responsibility and accountability for delivery of the objectives for a project taking into consideration the full project lifecycle including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and project controls
  • Coordinates, monitors and controls the project in line with the detailed scope, cost and schedule control baselines and manages any project changes in terms of this agreed baseline
  • Exercises budgetary control to ensure costs are not exceeded without proper authority. Provide such information as is required to obtain additional authorization where necessary
  • Ensures governance on the project, specifically compliance to project delegations of authority, procedures and policies
  • Coordinates and monitors team members in their performance and influences their activities as necessary to ensure project requirements are achieved
  • Ensures measurement of progress on all contracts for reporting and progress claim purposes
  • Ensures forecast of cost and schedule is updated in the project EAC and project forecast end date on a monthly basis
  • Communicates regularly with all staff to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood and to promote a healthy working environment


You bring to the role:

  • University Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in engineering, package coordination, project controls and construction in railway projects
  • 15 years relevant experience including involvement in at least one significant EPC / EPCM project and proven track record in engineering, procurement, construction and project controls
  • P.Eng. registration in the province of Ontario
  • PMP registration as asset
  • Experience in large earthmoving projects
  • Experience in rail superstructure construction required, with rail operations and rail maintenance beneficial
  • Experience in engineering, procurement and construction and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies
  • Proven background of resourcefulness under pressure
  • Coordination, organization and planning of community IR awareness
  • Commercially astute (financial and legal)
