We are currently searching for a Contract Administrator/Resident Engineer in our Mississauga office. You will be responsible for providing on-site representation for multi-discipline construction projects in the water and wastewater sector, and for construction inspection coordination between disciplines. Project location will be in the Bradford-West Gwillimbury, Ontario region.
Your responsibilities will include:
- You will be responsible for daily construction oversight alongside a site inspector, reviewing the site inspector’s daily reporting.
- You will provide daily contract administration duties as well as coordinating multi-discipline site inspections to monitor Contractor progress, workmanship, and conformance with the contract documents.
- You will provide feedback on the contractor’s construction schedule and track actual progress against the baseline and respective look-ahead schedules.
- You will review and recommend monthly contractor progress payments and payment certification.
- You will review and provide feedback on contractor’s change requests and claims.
- You will communicate regularly with Hatch’s Project Manager, the Client, the Contractor project teams, internal Hatch design teams, and act as an Ambassador of Hatch in communicating with the public and other stakeholders through the duration of the construction contract.
Health & Safety Responsibilities:
- You will ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and regulations within a COR registered environment.
- You will review and adhere to Hatch’s health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, operating procedures, and policies.
- You will perform regular formal or informal workplace inspections.
- In addition to the above, you will provide the duties including those specified under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
What you will bring:
- A current and valid P.Eng. accreditation with Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Undergraduate degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Process Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution; or a Diploma in Civil, Process or Mechanical Engineering Design, Construction, Construction Management, or equivalent field from an accredited college.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in a contract administration role in municipal water/wastewater, with strong knowledge of the Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) contracts.
- Experience working for a consulting engineering firm and/or a construction firm.
- Experience in water/wastewater treatment facility design and construction is an asset.
- Experience with multi-discipline design coordination and construction.
- Experience with monitoring and coordinating activities on a construction project including liaising with the Client, Contractors, Approvals Officers, and Public as required.
- Experience with preparing various contract administration paperwork including agendas, minutes, daily logs, photographic records, request for information, testing reports, change orders, deficiency lists, construction certificates.
- Experience with start-up and commissioning of mechanical systems, as well as post-construction warranty services is an asset.
- Proven analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a committed team player.
- Valid driver’s license.
