Senior Environmental Planners and Natural Heritage Specialists, Environmental Services Group

 

The Hatch Environmental Services Group (ESG) undertakes studies and delivers environmental services in the areas of ESIAs, permitting, ESAs, community engagement, sustainability/corporate social responsibility, climate change and related project delivery services.  Our wealth of engineering, environmental, EPCM project delivery and procurement experience and our global footprint is highly differentiated in the growing environmental services market.  
We are currently seeking Senior Environmental Professionals, Planners, ESIA and Natural Heritage specialists in major centres across Canada including Montreal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver.

This person will have incorporated project skills with equally strong client relationship management and business development skills. The person who accepts this role will be a business leader, builder and will be able to leverage some of their network of contacts. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
 

Essential:

  • Lead and grow the revenue and profit of our existing environmental consulting practice in the areas of ESIAs and permitting and natural heritage.
  • Project Management and coordination of key environmental deliverables.
  • Provide technical and peer review support for client deliverables.
  • Identifying and developing ESG related business opportunities with clients and companies working in the mining, energy and infrastructure sectors.
  • Providing project management, resource planning, mentorship and advisory leadership to project teams.
  • Work collaboratively with an integrated, multidisciplinary teams, liaising and supporting global peers.
  • Recruit and develop Hatch’s next generation of environmental leaders.

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of 10-year experience in managing and delivering environmental and social impact assess, mentor sustainable development activities on major mining, infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Provide an excellent career opportunity for someone with extensive experience in the environmental consulting community
  • A recognized ESIA or natural heritage expert, who is looking to take the next step in their career development. 
  • Post-Secondary Education in environmental engineering, engineering science, planning, environmental science, environmental, social impact assessment and management and/or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated business development and client engagement experience.
  • In-depth understanding of ESIA, permitting and approvals and regulatory requirements across Canada and within provinces and territories.
  • Experience working on major EPCM projects.
  • Willingness for both domestic and international travel as work requires.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and inspire environmental teams.
  • Entrepreneurial with a technical soul.
  • Effectively managing internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective, open communication and presentation style with the ability to plan and deliver best in class, high quality deliverables.

 

Preferred:

  • In-depth understanding of the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act
  • Ability to be flexible, learn and perform challenging tasks outside their area of skills and experience
  • Core competencies: Leadership, consultative, entrepreneurial, relationship builder, strategic thinker and implementer, influencer, networker, collaborator.
