Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Bridge Designer to join the Project Delivery Group (PDG) Structural team at our Mississauga, Ontario location.

Our knowledge of infrastructure includes aviation, highways and bridges, planning and advisory services, ports, rail and transit, tunnels, and water. Want to be part of the creation and construction of our cities? Then the infrastructure team is for you! 

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Work with project engineers and other project team members on design, tender, and construction deliverables for bridge projects;
• Create 3D models of bridge structures;
• Assist engineer to setup CAD model and to create sections and plans for structural analysis when required;
• Efficiently detail miscellaneous structural details for bridges such as the steel reinforcement, parapets, barriers, bearings, handrails, high-mast foundations, etc.;
• Develop bridge construction plans;
• Preparate tender documentation, especially models, drawings and other such as reports, memorandum, specifications, spreadsheets, letters, etc.;
• Prepare field review documentation – field review report, site visit, multi-disciplinary coordination etc.;
• Conduct quality check of models and drawings to satisfy project specific BIM and CAD requirements;
• Coordinate structural work with work of other disciplines;
• Use BIM and CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, Civil3D) in course of work.
   

You bring to the role:

• Civil/structural engineering diploma or technician certificate from an accredited institution;
• 10+ years of proven consulting engineering experience;
• Experience as a civil-structural designer in the bridge/transportation sectors;
• Strong AutoCAD and Revit skills mandatory;
• Experience on bridge projects and understanding of steel reinforcing detailing would be considered a strong asset;
• Knowledge of MicroStation, Civil 3D, Infraworks, Inventor, Dynamo, Grasshopper, Rhino is an asset;
• Experience in multi-discipline collaboration between Autodesk & Bentley products is an asset;
• Interest with future technologies and its implementation with BIM;
• Understanding of requirements of contract document package for construction including: drawings showing the requirements for construction of the design; specifications to define construction requirements; 3D model for drawing production and project handover;
• Ability to work on a number of projects at the same time and maintain high quality output;
• Capability to work to deadlines and work independently when required;
• Strong written, communication, coordination and organizational skills;
• Demonstrated ability to effectively support and contribute to a positive team environment.
