Summary:

The Senior Concrete Design Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small industrial and mining projects, including underground mining areas. The Senior Concrete Design Engineer will specialize in the design and analysis of reinforced concrete structures and foundations, supporting projects from front-end planning through detailed engineering and construction.

The Senior Concrete Design Engineer is responsible for preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, concrete design criteria, technical specifications, drawings, and reports. The role will also involve supervising and reviewing the work of designers and junior/intermediate engineers and coordinating concrete design activities with other disciplines. The Senior Concrete Design Engineer reports to the Lead Structural Engineer on large projects and to the Project Manager or Engineering Manager on smaller projects.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Assist the Engineering Manager/Lead Structural Engineer with the delivery of project requirements related to scope, cost, schedule, quality, and safety.

• Lead and perform the analysis and design of reinforced concrete foundations and structures for industrial and mining facilities.

• Develop concrete design criteria, methodologies, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.

• Design and review reinforced concrete elements, including foundations, slabs, walls, equipment foundations, retaining structures, and other industrial concrete structures.

• Ensure the implementation of safety, structural integrity, and constructability principles in concrete design and documentation.

• Promote compliance with relevant engineering standards, codes, and internal procedures.

• Prepare and/or review project standard specifications, design criteria, and technical documentation.

• Coordinate concrete design activities with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.

• Participate in and contribute to design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical meetings.

• Provide input to engineering, operating, and capital cost estimates.

• Carry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule.

• Stamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registered.

• Manage small capital and maintenance projects as required.

• Assist in defining project scope and preparing proposals.

• Supervise, review, and evaluate technical work prepared by junior and intermediate engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.

• Assist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A recognized degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited university.

• Registration as a Professional Engineer. Alternatively, registration as a candidate professional engineer actively working toward professional registration or regional equivalent.

• Minimum 12 years of engineering experience, with significant experience in reinforced concrete design within heavy industrial, mining, infrastructure, or similar environments.

• Strong experience designing reinforced concrete foundations and structures for industrial facilities and/or mining projects.

• Experience with applicable concrete and structural design codes and standards.

• Experience with structural analysis and design software; familiarity with STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, SAFE, or similar tools is beneficial.

• Familiarity with Mathcad or similar engineering calculation software is beneficial.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop effective working relationships and technical networks.

• Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple project deliverables.

• Awareness of Health, Safety, Environment, and Community (HSEC) policies and standards.

• Sound knowledge of 3D, data-centric design systems.

• Sound knowledge of engineering management systems and project execution procedures.

• Experience working within established engineering procedures and workflows in the execution of multidisciplinary projects.

Compensation: $115,000 - $165,000
