The Construction Manager working primarily from the project office (will consider candidates from Brisbane or Perth area or those willing to relocate) is responsible for the overall planning, direction, organization, and budgeting of all construction or maintenance work, to the highest safety and quality levels within time and costs constraints. The Construction Manager is primarily responsible for the development of the construction strategies and execution schedule. The Construction Manager participates in the design development of a construction project from concept to detail and oversees the organizational plans, detailed schedule development and implementation strategies.
As the successful candidate you will:
- Be responsible for all safety planning associated with the project construction execution methods selection, with support of the Project Manager and site Health and Safety Manager.
- Ensure Construction Work Packages (CWP) are defined to a sufficient level for the project phase.
- Ensure construction work packages are coordinated with engineering and procurement.
- Ensure corporate policies and procedures are fully implemented.
- Establishes project field procedures and objectives within corporate policies and procedures as necessitated by jobsite condidtions.
- Review and approve construction estimates, budgets, forecast and schedules.
- Review construction/errection drawings and specifications prepared for the project for economic constructability, develop startegies for errection interfaces,determine appropriate construction methods and preempt problem areas.
- Ensure the necessary permits and licenses are identified and obtaines prior to start of construction activities on site.
- Liaises with Project Manager and the project core team of design engineers , procurement, planning and scheduling and other personnel as required in setting prioroties to ensure timely constrution performance .
- Develop and contribute accurate and timely construction reporting by coordinating data from site activities, validating performance metric.
- Contribute to develop sire organization and staffing requirement required to execute construction activities within project schedule and accurate costs.
- Direct, monitor and motivate subordinate construction specialists in performance and direct activities as necessary to ensure project requirement are achieved.
- Contribute to establish the construction requirements for pre-farication and modularization.
- Ensure that the Site Manager is informed of construction concerns.
- Ensure adherence to all local regulations and statutory requirements in site activities planning.
- Coordinate the preparation and issue Construction Excecution Plan.
You will bring to this role:
- Demonstrated health and safety management focus in all phases of project delivery, and extensive knowledge of health and safety management procedures, safe work practices and applicable legislation.
- Technical Degree or equivalent years of supervisory experience required.
- 10-15 years previous construction management experience on major projects or in heavy or industrial construction
- Able to manage large construction team and communicate directly with client on key issues .
- Effective report writting skills , planning and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and lead a discipline focused teams and fit into a team environment.
- Knowledge of the EPCM model of project delivery.
- Comprehensive knowledge and ability to practically interpret and apply good construction practice and appropriate industry standards.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
