THE OPPORTUNITY

 

We are currently seeking an Draftsperson with 1-3 years experience on a full time basis to join our vibrant, professional and talented team. The position entails the preparation of technical plans and graphics for urban development, engineering and infrastructure projects and will require a person who has good communication skills, the ability to prioritise and is an advanced user of CAD (preferably Autocad) and Adobe Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign). Previous experience in engineering, urban planning, residential construction or architecture firms is desirable. We can offer:

Key Focus of Position:

 

The position requires the person to assist the Senior Draftsperson in providing drafting and graphic technical expertise to the broader team on a range of multi-disciplinary projects.  Central to the role is the requirement to convert concept designs into technical drawings and documentation for urban development and infrastructure projects. This requires high level technical CAD skills, and a focus on clear communication, quality control and attention to detail.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Completion of TAFE or equivalent qualification in architectural/built form, urban or graphic design, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Bachelor or post graduate qualifications in urban planning, geography, urban design, landscape architecture, or other related built environment discipline (desirable)

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Delivers quality outcomes and timely service on areas of responsibility to the Hatch Urban Solutions team and our clients including:

 

  • Preparation of documentation for a range of planning and design projects including technical drawings for built form and infrastructure projects utilizing Hatch templates and style guides as required;
  • Preparation of technical drawings, such as CAD Master Plans and concept street designs, plans of Subdivision, Local Development Plans and sales plans.
  • Preparation of urban design graphics to effectively communicate ideas working closely with the urban designers and project managers.
  • Management of digital data on Hatch’s systems, according with document control protocols;
  • Liaising with our team to obtain briefings on outputs, and to update on output/ production task progress;
  • Liaising with clients (where directed) via email and phone to obtain digital data, and transmitting digital data on behalf of colleagues as required;
  • Working within multi-disciplinary project teams (including client and external consultants).
  • Comply with adopted Hatch administrative and management procedures.
  • Assist with knowledge transfer through project participation as well as in-house professional development initiatives.
  • Undertake other duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be directed by management.
  • Timely, accurate work of a high quality that is effective in achieving quality outcomes for client projects.

 

Experience and Competencies

 

  • 1-3 years experience in the engineering, infrastructure, construction or urban property development industry (desirable)
  • Has a team focused work ethic and a client service ethos
  • Demonstrates a passion for infrastructure and the built environment and the delivery of sustainable communities
  • Effective interpersonal/ communication skills, attention to detail and decision making ability
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of a strong company culture to share, lead and inspire
  • Ability to assist the team effectively and co-operatively
  • Effective time management skills including the ability to prioritise workloads and perform tasks efficiently and demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail and high levels of presentation
  • Can work both independently and in a team environment

Software skills

 

  • CAD (AutoCAD) (essential)
