Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our PDG team on a nine month fixed term basis. This role offers the opportunity to lead and deliver technically complex engineering scopes while working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment. PDG supports clients across the full project lifecycle by combining strong technical capability with robust governance, proven methodologies, and fit‑for‑purpose systems. Our integrated engineering, project management, and construction teams deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable outcomes across the metals and mining, infrastructure, and energy sectors globally. As the Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of the I&C engineering scope across studies and project delivery phases. You will provide technical leadership, contribute to multidisciplinary collaboration, and ensure design solutions meet project, client, and regulatory requirements.

 

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading the delivery of the Instrumentation and Control engineering scope of work
  • Providing technical leadership and fostering a committed, high‑performing team environment
  • Developing discipline designs and engineering deliverables for feasibility studies and detailed design
  • Contributing to capital cost estimates and project schedules
  • Providing specialist I&C input into multidisciplinary project teams
  • Participating in formal engineering reviews, including HAZOPs and CHAZOPs
  • Supporting construction, commissioning, and operational activities as required

 

About You

You hold a relevant engineering degree with experience aligned to CPEng requirements and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and compliance. You bring proven design and engineering experience in the mining and metals sector or similar heavy industries such as energy or infrastructure, along with exposure to construction, maintenance, or operational environments. You have current knowledge of industry and regulatory standards relevant to instrumentation and control systems and are confident ensuring design compliance with all applicable standards and internal procedures. With strong communication skills, you engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders at a technical and interpersonal level.
