Reporting to the Area Construction Manager, the Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating site‑based construction activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements. This role provides frontline leadership across contractors and subcontractors, ensuring construction activities are appropriately sequenced, well‑managed, and aligned with project performance goals. As a competent construction professional, the Construction Supervisor applies sound technical judgement and practical experience to evaluate construction methods, monitor contractor performance, and support successful project delivery across safety, quality, schedule, and cost outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor job site health, safety, and environmental performance, ensuring contractors meet required safety obligations
- Supervise and administer construction activities, including oversight of contractors and subcontractors within the assigned work area
- Support coordination of design deliverables to enable efficient and continuous construction execution
- Act as the primary job‑site point of contact for contractors within the designated project area
- Monitor material deliveries to site and manage release of materials to contractors
- Plan and chair site safety meetings, assist with incident investigations and reporting, and actively participate in Hatch safety programs
- Identify, manage, and communicate deficiencies and non‑conformances to the Area Construction Manager
- Support site administration and record‑keeping in accordance with the Construction Execution Plan
- Assist with construction estimating, scheduling, cost control, and reporting for contractor‑performed works
About You
You will bring demonstrated supervisory experience within major projects or heavy or industrial construction environments, supported by a relevant trade qualification. You have 5–10 years’ onsite construction experience and a proven ability to lead discipline‑focused site teams while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety. You are a confident communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills and are comfortable managing contractor performance and resolving issues professionally. You have a strong working knowledge of the EPCM project delivery model and can practically interpret and apply industry standards and good construction practices. You thrive in collaborative environments, are results‑driven, and bring integrity, accountability, and professionalism to all aspects of your work.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Supervisory experience within a construction leadership role
- Trade qualification relevant to the assigned discipline
- 5–10 years’ onsite experience on major projects or within heavy or industrial construction
- Strong health and safety focus across planning and construction execution stages
- Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to motivate site teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Broad understanding of EPCM project delivery, including engineering, procurement, and construction interfaces
Preferred
- Experience on at least one major project of similar size, scope, or complexity
- Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary team environments
- Experience managing and resolving contractor issues to prevent escalation
