Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Quality Assurance Representative to join our North American Infrastructure group in our Vehicle Production Oversight Team at a various SEPTA Maintenance Shops in Philadelphia, PA.This work takes place during night shift.

 

In this role the ideal candidate is a quality assurance professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. ASQ certification as a Quality Engineer and/or Quality Inspector is preferred. High school diploma with technical schooling or Associate Degree is required. Additional experience and successful levels of responsibility may be considered as a substituted for technical schooling or an Associate Degree. 

 

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Interface directly with SEPTA Maintenance Management to coordinate vehicle inspections.
  • Operate safely and within the safety guidelines of SEPTA.
  • Perform detailed visual inspection and condition assessments (using borescopes and precision measurement tooling) on structural frame members on railcars.
  • Report accurate dimensional and photographic data to determine whether identified conditions meet specific condemning criteria.
  • Clearly and concisely report findings such that Engineering can determine whether vehicles will remain in service or be scheduled for closer evaluation and/or repair.
  • Acquire/Coordinate assistance with HATCH Project Engineering staff to resolve problems or acquire technical input.
  • Prepare and submit proper documentation upon completion of inspections & witnessed tests.
  • Read and interpret drawings, procedures, standards and use precision measuring devices.
  • Interface directly with SEPTA Maintenance personnel to coordinate vehicle inspections.
  • Operate safely and within the safety guidelines of SEPTA.

 

You bring to the role:

  • An associate degree or a High School diploma with technical schooling
  • A minimum of 5 years rail vehicle experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, computer skills in general, and the ability to clearly and concisely report on issues.
  • Recognized industry certifications, such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector/Engineer/Auditor are desired
  • Broad-based knowledge of manufacturing processes, and best workmanship practices.
  • Broad-based knowledge of wire routing, crimping, & inspection of electromechanical assemblies
  • Ability to work in accordance with approved specifications and drawings, changes, or deviations as necessary

 

The following skills/experience are a plus:

  • Experience working with an operating railroad, a railcar builder or a railcar building industry inspection firm
  • Experience with vehicle production oversight
