Are you ready for your next challenge?  Hatch continues to expand its Smart Grid team advising utilities on the impacts of grid modernization, distributed energy resources, digital utility solutions, electrification, advanced grid operations, and distribution system design.
The increased deployment of distributed energy resources (DERs) and automated or remotely operated grid management technologies has provided additional complexities and challenges for utilities as they transition from a monodirectional model of simply providing electricity to a complex, digital, data intensive, prosumer driven, decentralized energy solutions provider.  Technological advancements (e.g. smart inverters, grid edge computing, advanced grid controls) and emerging business models (community microgrids, transactive rate-based prosumer models, nodal pricing, etc..) are changing the industry.

Hatch’s Distributed Energy Solutions team supports utilities with techno-economic modelling of distributed energy resources, microgrid system design & equipment specification, protection & controls, renewable resources & distributed generation integration, power conversion system (inverter) grid support, new technology evaluation, and DER use case optimization. Technologies the Distributed Energy Solutions team supports and integrates include microgrid controllers, solar, wind, batteries, electrolysers, fuel cells, and various power conversion systems (inverters).

We work alongside our clients to modernize their grids to meet the challenges of today and the future.  Hatch is looking for Senior and Intermediate level engineers with project management and project engineering experience with a desire to create utility systems of the future, today.
