Hatch is seeking an Advisory Specialist in Salt Lake City, UT. The Advisory Specialist is responsible for providing asset management services to our clients, largely in a mechanical technician/analyst function. This will entail the development and implementation of maintenance strategy to support the business model of Hatch’s clients. This role may be required to visit the client’s facilities and develop, review and refine the asset strategies, tasks, and associated procedures and parts for a processing plant operation. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work strategically with Hatch colleagues and clients to deliver asset management outcomes for new and expanding plants, including:
  • Maintenance and reliability improvement activities.
  • Reliability modelling and calculations.
  • Maintenance planning and scheduling.
  • Shutdown management, planning and execution related tasks.
  • Asset strategy, maintenance tactics, spare parts analysis and procedures development.
  • Development of Asset Management Plans (ISO 55000).
  • Work with team members to continuously improve practice services and capability, including working with other Hatch teams to increase understanding of the Asset Management practice.
  • Apply maintenance strategy development techniques such as RCM, FMEA or associated defect elimination principles to define preventative maintenance plans.
  • Identify Failure Modes of existing Equipment Maintenance tasks to enable the creation of preventative maintenance plans.
  • Assist with the Develop of Maintenance Work Instructions.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals for review and delivery of all new works.
  • Facilitate (or assist with the facilitation) of workshops with clients.
  • Report and present material to Hatch and/or clients as to outcomes achieved and future activities required to sustain and continuously improve.
  • Review of equipment strategies and tactics for maintenance and operation of processing plants.
  • Review P&ID’s, Asset Manuals and Drawings to extract or develop critical maintenance activities and identify gaps in existing procedures.
  • Identify critical spares requirements from OEM manuals; existing work orders and practical experience.
  • Work closely with the client SME’s, Technicians and Operators to understand their stakeholder requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Demonstrated commitment to very high safety values.
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Specialize in mechanical/rotating equipment.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in one of the following disciplines- maintenance trades, engineering or reliability engineering.
  • A thorough, demonstrated understanding of equipment condition monitoring techniques. (oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermographic survey, etc.) for respective discipline.
  • High interpersonal skills, both written and orally.
  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision, including in accordance with a schedule driven approach.
  • Understanding of RCM, FMEA or associated defect elimination principles.
  • Understanding of reliability modelling principles, applications and software.
  • Mining, oil & gas, heavy industry or manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • CMMS experience (SAP, eAM, Maximo, Ellipse etc) is preferred.
  • Experience in a planning environment is preferred.
