Looking to take the next step in your career?

Hatch LTK is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Network Architect/Infrastructure Engineer to join our North American Infrastructure group in our Rail Systems team in San Francisco, CA.

In this role the ideal candidate will be tasked with development of conceptual designs and contract documents sufficient to allow a qualified contractor to implement state-of-the-art communications networks and data centers for various clients, primarily public transit agencies.  Our clients rely on us to help them procure new systems and assist their staff and contractors in making sure systems are built to specification and operate as intended. Work will include establishing design criteria, writing specifications, developing conceptual designs, preparing cost estimates, reviewing contractors’ design and other data, and overseeing testing and commissioning/cut-over of the various communications networks, data centers, and systems. Networks are used by operations, administration and safety systems and work often takes place on an operating railroad or transit system in a so-called “brownfield” environment where planning and follow-through are essential. Our engineers are key people in our clients’ organizations, bringing new services and systems on-line.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships are critically important for success in this role.  Candidates must also be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of quality, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Design, implementation, administration and optimization of enterprise network management systems and monitoring utilities such as Jira, WhatsUp Gold, Nagios, SolarWinds or equivalent.
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
  • Network throughput, latency, and reliability design and calculations.
  • Design and implementation of disaster recovery plans and disaster recovery quality assurance tests for the network infrastructure to ensure business continuity.
  • Develop requirements for appropriate security controls to safeguard digital files and vital electronic infrastructure
  • Develop requirements for advanced security signature or access control mechanisms that can be implemented on security systems such as intrusion prevention - detection systems, firewalls, routers or endpoint in response to new or observed threats within the enterprise.
  • Knowledge of cyber security regulations and experience in monitoring external and internal data sources in order to address enterprise threat conditions.
  • Ethernet core protocols and common extensions.

You bring to the role:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science & Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the application of current communication networks and information technologies
  • Candidate with certifications, knowledge and experience with Cisco CCNP/CCIE (Data Center, Security, and Routing and Switching) are highly preferred
  • PE or EIT Licensure is desirable but not required
