Hatch, a full-service consultancy, is currently seeking a highly motivated, dynamic Mechanical / Piping Engineering new grad with interest in Mechanical or Piping system design. Reporting to the Mechanical Discipline Lead Engineer, you will support projects locally and globally working from the Saskatoon office.

As the successful candidate, you will: 

  • Work independently to apply engineering principles to perform calculations for mechanical equipment design and piping system design of industrial buildings and processes.
  • Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and / or other Hatch groups
  • Prepare equipment specification packages, construction work packages, or piping calculation reports, to be checked by senior colleagues and used to support engineering documents to be used by internal and external stakeholders
  • Become knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, analytical software, and tools, piping systems and specifications, discipline workflows and execution, and other industrial components / processes you are assigned to assess
  • Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities 
  • Perform field verification, and provide field support during construction. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise

 

You bring to the role:

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2025, or recently graduated, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. 
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
  • Preferred academic courses include Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Machine Design and Solid Mechanics. 
  • Previous relevant coop and summer work terms or internships in Mechanical or Piping engineering is an asset 
  • Academic or work experience with Mechanical software AFT Fathom, Ansys, Sidewinder, MathCAD, and Bentley MicroStation CAD software is an asset.
