Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Dam Engineer to join the Hatch team in Saskatchewan.  This position will involve being part of a team of global of experts and specialists to complete challenging projects in dam engineering, design and rehabilitation within Saskatchewan, across Canada and around the world.

Hatch’s Water Power group is focused on developing and managing water resources for hydropower production but also dam safety, flood protection, water infrastructure and water supply.  In addition our current water infrastructure is aging with many dams and facilities requiring expert guidance to rehabilitate and rebuild these structure to last for the next generations.

 

As a successful candidate, you will perform below tasks:

  • Managing projects from concept to construction.  Projects will generally be concentrated within the water resources, flood control and hydropower sectors with opportunities to participate in the infrastructure and mining/industrial sectors. 
  • Overseeing engineering analyses and designs in collaboration other disciplines
  • Preparing detailed technical reports, drawings, specifications and correspondence.
  • Maintaining and developing client relationships: develop business, write proposals and present to clients
  • Identifying key opportunities in the dam and water resources field with a focus on the Canadian prairie region.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical, Structural or Water Resources Engineering.
  • 8+ years post-graduation engineering experience.
  • Registered, or eligible to be registered, and licensed to practice as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Saskatchewan
  • Demonstrated expertise in the Water Resources, Dam Design, Dam Safety, Flood Control and Flood Protection
  • Demonstrated experience in site investigations, dam engineering and rehabilitation from concept to construction and construction support from tendering to inspections
  • Proven experience in the types of analyses and design processes required by the Canadian Dam Association Dam Safety Guidelines and Practice Bulletins.
  • Client responsive with a history of successful business development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous consulting engineering experience.
  • Industry recognized expertise in a field or specialization.
  • Post graduate education (M.Sc., M.Eng. or equivalent).
  • Ability to travel within Canada and Internationally on long term assignments.
