Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) specializes in site planning, spatial information and digital terrain modeling, surface and subsurface investigations, rock mechanics, underground structures, geotechnical laboratory services, flood forecasting and water resource management through our geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil site development expertise.

 

 

Looking to get the most out of your upcoming internship? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Intern to join our Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) group, supporting our growing team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

In alignment with this organizational growth our Dynamic Earth Solutions (DES) delivery practice is expanding globally and is currently comprised of over four hundred professionals focused on Hatch’s business sectors (Energy, Infrastructure, and Mining) in earth related disciplines, including: Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Geospatial Sciences, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).  We are committed to providing opportunities for technical growth and the professional development of our young staff to ensure our projects, and your internship are a success.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Hatch Dynamic Earth Solutions group is seeking a Geotechnical Intern with interest in the Geotechnical business unit for the work term beginning January 2023. Reporting to the lead engineer/designer you will support projects globally based out of Saskatoon, SK.

 Responsibilities:

 

  • Supporting various field assignments including geotechnical investigations, data processing, and report writing 
  • Assist in developing analysis (slope stability, seepage) and quantity estimates 
  • Provide general support for intermediate and senior engineers (data assessment, geological mapping, design, assessment, and modeling)

 

Education and Experience: 

 

  • Pursing a degree in Geotechnical, Geological, Civil, or Environmental Engineering
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and oral communication skills 
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and teamwork skills 
  • Technical proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel 
  • Students will be assigned to work closely with experienced engineers who will provide guidance and mentoring
