Key responsibilities:

 

  • Reviewing all applicable legal and project HSE requirements and providing guidance to project personnel (particularly the EPCM Construction Manager) to help ensure compliance at all times
  • Assisting with the implementation of effective hazard identification and risk management processes for all work to be carried out on the project site
  • Participating in Task (Job) Risk Assessments and ensuring that identified control measures are implemented and maintained
  • Participating in and reporting on the Critical Control Verification programme
  • Assisting with HSE induction training for all personnel
  • Compiling and maintaining documents and records required in terms of the HSE management system for the project
  • Communicating relevant HSE information to project personnel (e.g. incidents and lessons learnt, leading practices, hazards, risks and control measures, etc.)
  • Carrying out health and safety interactions
  • Attending contractor Toolbox Talks and daily Team Pre-Start Health and Safety Discussions in accordance with a role-based schedule
  • Attending monthly Contractor and Project HSE Meetings
  • Carrying out Planned Task Observations in accordance with a role-based schedule
  • Assisting with the implementation, testing and maintenance of an effective Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan for the project
  • Responding to workplace incidents (as appropriate)
  • Participating in incident investigations
  • Auditing the HSE management system and workplace activities of each contractor on a monthly basis to assess compliance with the project HSE requirements
  • Tracking and reporting on the implementation of corrective and improvement actions (arising from incident investigations, audits, inspections, etc.).

 

Requirements:

 

  • Recognized Health & Safety Degree/Diploma
  • Shourt courses may be considered, however, HSE Degree/Diploma will be advantageous
  • 5+ years' onsite Health and Safety experience within an EPCM/Construction/Mining environment
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo and pass a medical examination
  • Passed Silicosis screening in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements
  • Drivers Licence
