Cost Control Specialist

The Cost Controller is responsible for developing and maintaining project cost information, project cost forecasts and reporting. Cost controller works closely with Project Manager, Planner and engineers to ensure collected data constitutes meaningful information required to make managerial decisions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Establish project baselines together with the Project Manager and Planner.
  • Ensure that appropriate management tools are set up to control costs (Hatch tools).
  • Develop WBS/FBS/PBS together with the Project Manager and associated Discipline Leads.
  • Budget control (Actuals, ETC, EAC)
  • Cost analysis.
  • Cost forecasting.
  • Engineering progress reporting using earned value methodology (Hatch tools).
  • Update schedule forecasts in Hatch Engineering Progress reporting tool together with the Planner.
  • Maintain EWPs in conjunction with Document Control and EWP responsible engineers.
  • Overall Project Performance and Cost Reporting (weekly, monthly).
  • Participate in the trending and change management process.
  • Update and maintain budget with approved PCNs and ensure they are incorporated in the Project EAC.
  • Russia Projects KPIs monitoring and coordination of project reviews.

Qualifications and Experience


  • Good command of English language
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or related discipline or appropriate project related experience
  • A minimum of 2-5 years experience as a Cost Controller/Cost Technician in a multidiscipline project environment.
  • Sound technical knowledge in a multi-discipline environment
  • Good knowledge of budgeting, forecasting final costs, cash flows and estimating
  • Overview of procurement, contracts, quantity surveying, planning, scheduling and engineering processes and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Estimating and tendering processes
  • Good knowledge of project management principles
  • Computer literacy (MS Office package).



  • Technical knowledge of building, civil, mechanical and basic knowledge in electrical and Control disciplines
  • Higher education on economics, management or technical desciplines
  • Interpersonal and good communication skills
  • Time management
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Planning and organizing
  • Budgeting skills
  • Verbal and written communications in English and Russian
  • Presentation skills.
