Hydropower Engineer - Structural, St. John’s, NL
We are seeking a qualified Professional Engineer who will be part of the Hydropower and Dams Business Unit, providing technical leadership as well as client engagement and business development with key clients. The Engineer will have relevant experience executing designs, studies, and projects in the hydropower industry including; rehabilitation of existing facilities, dam safety reviews, condition assessments of hydro structures, feasibility studies, and site investigations.
Principal responsibilities will be focused on the execution of design projects, primarily for hydropower and dam structures and facilities. This will include structural analysis, developing preliminary and detailed designs, and preparing specifications for a variety of structural engineering tasks involving construction and/or rehabilitation of concrete and steel structures.
While the majority of the efforts will be focused in Atlantic Canada the candidate will work with the global team to pursue and deliver projects across Canada and globally. The role has definite growth and management opportunities for the successful candidate.
Tasks:
- Leading and managing engineering commitments in accordance with scope, schedule, budget and procedures to ensure successful project completion
- Coordinating design teams for successful completion of projects
- Responsible for the preparation of technical deliverables including; drawings, memos, reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Ownership and stamping of technical documents
- Resolving overall design and project execution issues, as required
- Preparation of proposals, including the development of work plans and budgets
- Develop and implement business development plans
- Field trips to client sites, as required, for site assessments, field investigations, project meetings or other project requirements.
- Maintain a strong client focus and a commitment to achieve positive results and building key relationships
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Demonstrated ability in leading technical discussions, presentations, and technical reports
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s in Engineering (Civil/Structural) from an accredited college or university
- 8+ years of hydro related experience
- Experience in rehabilitation of hydropower structures
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in NL or other Atlantic Canada Provinces
