Job Title: Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission Student (Fall 2018/Winter 2019)

Location: Sudbury, ON or Thunder Bay, ON, or Mississauga, ON

Length of Term: Fall or Winter Semester; 4 months, with possibility for extension

 

Hatch’s Power Delivery & Integration (PD&I) team is providing a short-term student contract to support the development of the Wataynikaneyap Power Transmission project. This project entails the development of an 1800-kilometer transmission line to deliver power to Western Ontario, including 22 First Nation communities.

 

Job Description:

  • Transmission Line design (structural designs, structure spotting, conductor design, Optical Ground Wire design, insulator and hardware design, access roads, foundations etc.);
  • Substation design (electrical layout, equipment specifications, protection & control, SCADA, telecommunication, grounding, civil designs etc.);
  • Work closely with Hatch engineering leads for the development and/or review of technical documents, reports, specifications and drawings;
  • Geographical Information System (GIS) 

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a Post-Secondary Education Program (preferably in Electrical or Civil Engineering disciplines);
  • Indigenous Person of Canada, preferably from the participating First Nation communities of Wataynikaneyap Power (http://www.wataypower.ca/).
