If you’re driven by technical excellence, enjoy solving complex challenges, and want to contribute to meaningful public infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Civil Engineer at Hatch, you will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality road and rail infrastructure solutions across planning, concept, and detailed design phases. Working alongside senior technical leads, you will:

  • Work closely with the Roads & Rail Lead to ensure design outputs meet client specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice
  • Take technical ownership of assigned engineering work packages, ensuring quality, accuracy, and robust engineering justification
  • Strengthen your expertise in geometric and civil engineering principles, contributing to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
  • Provide guidance and direction to designers and junior engineers, and contribute to internal capability development
  • Prepare engineering reports, assessments, design briefs, and supporting technical documentation
  • Maintain strong and professional client engagement throughout the project lifecycle
  • Provide project management support, including tracking progress against schedule, budget, and scope
  • Ensure safety‑in‑design and engineering integrity principles are embedded in all project deliverables
  • Review and evaluate design work completed by designers or external parties, ensuring compliance with standards and project requirements

What You Bring

  • A recognised degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or actively working toward chartership; RPEQ registration (or ability to obtain) is highly regarded
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering road and/or rail infrastructure projects, including oversight, review, or guidance of geometric design for state road authorities or rail operators (e.g., DTMR, Transport for NSW, ARTC, Queensland Rail)
  • Strong understanding of Australian engineering codes and standards (Austroads, MRTS, ARTC, AS standards)
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engineering work to a high standard, on time and within budget
