Hatch has an opportunity for a Key Account Manager – TfNSW to join our Highways & Bridges Group based in Newcastle or Sydney. Reporting to the Regional Director, Highways & Bridges - AUA, you be working across a number of high-profile road and rail projects, while supporting teams across the country.

 

In this role, you will play a key part in driving business growth by developing new opportunities, serving as the primary account manager for Transport for New South Wales, and supporting the expansion of the team through strategic hiring. You will be responsible for strengthening and nurturing existing client relationships, collaborating closely with sector leaders and internal teams, and actively contributing to elevating the profile of our Civil Engineering capability across the market.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and providing support to business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals;
  • Lead contract negotiations including variations, claims and commercial disputes, and ensure fulfilment of contract negotiations;
  • Project direction on various multi-discipline projects;
  • Monitor output to ensure all of the teams’ work is completed to a high technical standard, within agreed budgets and timeframes, and in compliance with Hatch’s Business Systems;
  • Developing new and maintaining existing client relationships;
  • Mentoring and development of technical staff;
  • Provide vision and leadership to team members;
  • Hiring and expanding the team;
  • Liaising with other business sectors leaders within and outside of the organization; and,
  • Approval of employee time, expenses and other management functions needed for day-to-day operations.


What you will bring to the role:

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring a relevant degree in Civil Engineering and extensive industry experience that is recognised by clients at a state level, including key achievements with Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW). You will have a solid understanding of the design and analysis of roads, freeways, intersections and drainage, along with sound knowledge of Australian Standards and current engineering and construction practices. Your ability to work independently or collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, combined with a flexible approach to leading and guiding a small technical team, will be essential. We’re looking for someone who enjoys sharing their technical expertise, supports colleagues in team environments, and has a strong track record of delivering complex multidisciplinary projects on time and within budget. In addition, candidates who are registered as a Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia or an equivalent international body will be highly regarded. Experience in business development, including contributing to client relationship growth, will be viewed favourably. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are important, along with excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
