Hatch is seeking a Process Engineer with experience in phosphates as related to the design and/or operation of phosphoric acid plants, phosphate granulation plants, infrastructure and utilities. The Process Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services and/or field support. Directly responsible for coordinating the function of the process engineering team, the Lead Process Engineer will oversee and guide the development of process engineering deliverables ensuring they meet the project’s scope, are delivered on schedule and budget, and meet Hatch’s quality standards. The role requires the engineer to develop solutions in all areas of the process plant across various systems, unit operations and process equipment. In addition, the Process Consultant will liaise with other disciplines to ensure the process intent of the plant is maintained throughout the design life.
Key Responsibilities:
- This position will require sufficient understanding of phosphate plant processes including the knowledge and experience necessary to meet with clients and discuss potential projects and plant improvements as well as the ability to conduct phosphates business development, write proposals, develop commercial agreements and oversee project implementation. General knowledge of phosphate mine and beneficiation is also a plus.
- Involved in conduction and completion of the process engineering component of scoping and pre-feasibility studies for projects, managing scope, schedule and budget for the process engineering team.
- Coordinate the function of the process engineering team to deliver the process engineering deliverables for the project.
- Oversees and guides the development of process engineering deliverables and tasks including test work definition, design basis, design criteria, mass and energy balance, capacity studies, trade-off studies, engineering and equipment calculations, piping and instrumentations diagrams, process control logic, and operating and capital cost estimates.
- Collaborate with the client’s representatives to ensure full, appropriate communication and coordination in the achievement of the process objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemistry, or other relevant degree.
- P.E. license in the State of Florida is preferred.
- Minimum 7 years process engineering experience in process operations or engineering contracting/consultancy organizations.
- Ability to nurture relationships with clients, with an ability to generate business, resolve problems and exceed client expectations.
- Managing client relationships and contributing to business development.
- Raising the profile of Hatch within the industry, taking part in panel reviews, regional competitions and press.
- Significant experience in engineering planning for the process engineering discipline.
- Ability to manage individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives.
- Strong client focus. Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Technical exposure to the process technologies related to the project.
This position reports to the Global Director, Phosphates.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
