Hatch is seeking an Thermal Power Lead in support of its Thermal / Renewable / Transmission & Distribution Power business in the Southeast United States. This position will be based in Tampa, FL. This is a technical and business development position within the Power Business Unit of Hatch. It provides an opportunity for professional growth to the selected individual within the thermal power department by engaging in business development and project execution for studies, detailed design and owner’s engineering work for Utilities, Owners, Developers and Independent Power Producers in Florida and Southeastern United States primarily.

 

The successful candidate will work as a lead in the Power team within the Thermal business in multi-disciplinary teams in delivering winning proposals and undertake/complete assignments flawlessly. Client engagement, business development, proposal management and Project Management are core responsibilities. The incumbent should be highly knowledgeable of the Power Industry in Florida and Southeastern United States including key players and contacts. Reporting to the Global Director, Thermal Power, and working closely with other region leaders, the successful candidate will ensure that all projects are completed in accordance with applicable codes and standards, Hatch’s corporate policies and processes and to the full satisfaction of clients.

 

Role & Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead Thermal Power business development efforts and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals, pursuit plans and origination for Florida and the Southeastern United States;
  • Manage and develop client relationship with power producers and utilities in Southeastern United States;
  • Manage assigned studies and projects for clients in Southeastern United States including interfacing and reporting to clients, monitoring and managing budget and schedules for specialized upfront power studies;
  • Provide leadership and mentorship on specialized technical design and deliverable requirements for various forms of Thermal Power generation and cogeneration;
  • Provide support to other regions in the development and delivery of project requirements within the Power BU and requisite client engagements as required;
  • Through project delivery and involvement in industry activities / associations / committees / etc, develop and maintain client relations;
  • Identify and develop project teams within Hatch to win proposals and successfully execute projects.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Mechanical (preferred) or electrical engineering degree from a recognized university;
  • Preferred Registered Professional Engineer;
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience within the thermal power industry in a consulting/engineering environment;
  • Experience with thermal power systems, such as gas, coal, biomass, liquid fuel, district energy and industrial thermal systems;
  • Proven track record in business development for engineering services through the development and maintenance of client relations;
  • Ability to successfully lead small and medium projects with remote and local teams;
  • Flexibility for short term business travels;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally);
  • Track record of delivering projects on time and to budget;
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience within organizations and teams, people manager.
