Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Hydrotechnical Engineering Student to join our Thunder Bay office. Hydrotechnical Engineering is a branch of Civil Engineering that focuses on the study, design, and management of water resources.

 

As part of the Hydrotechnical team, you will be assigned to project teams to assist experienced engineers with technical analyses and designs related to civil engineering hydraulics, hydrology, and water resources management and planning.

 

As the successful candidate, you will:

 

  • Conduct hydrology and hydraulics analyses, calculations, and computer simulations using spreadsheets or discipline-specific software packages.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
  • Assist with development of proposals and presentations for clients.
  • Conduct field visits to client sites (if required).

 

You bring to the role:

 

  • Enrollment in an accredited civil, hydrotechnical, or water resources engineering (or similar) undergraduate or graduate program at the university level, and successful completion of at least the second year of the program.
  • Demonstrated coursework, research, and/or work experience in hydrotechnical engineering topics. This includes topics such as open-channel hydraulics and statistical hydrology. 
  • Proficiency in the use of programs such as GIS, AutoCad, and Microsoft® desktop software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
  • Experience using hydrotechnical software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, or similar platforms will be considered an Asset.

Compensation:

 

Range: $26.00 - $33.00

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location. In addition to base pay, our total rewards package may include performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other programs designed to support your well-being and growth.
