  • Arranges and participates in meetings involving municipal officials, clients, utilities, contractors, and the public and prepares reports as required;
  • Prepares scheduled job reports, progress reports, and job diaries. Reviews reports and correspondence prepared by assigned staff;
  • Carries out inspection and contract administration duties, including the review and preparation of contractor payment claims and payment certificates, interpretation of contract requirements, contract negotiations on extra work, verification of equipment delivery, review of quantities and pricing related to contract changes;
  • Reviews contract drawings and documents prior to commencement of construction;
  • Completes final review and prepares deficiency list and final payment certificate;
  • Maintains effective working relationships with contractors, clients, the public, government officials or association representatives;
  • Carries out or causes to be carried out, supervisory, investigative, surveillance and conformational sampling and testing on environmental construction projects, as well as reviewing various site and safety protocols;
  • Carries out construction survey duties when necessary.


  • A graduate civil technologist, registered with OACETT as RCCA or RCSI;
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in construction, observation, supervision and coordination;
  • Sound knowledge of construction inspection and management principles, practices and techniques, as well as knowledge of construction products, materials and equipment;
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Construction Project;
  • Must possess sound judgment; strong organizational, administrative, observational and problem solving skills;
  • Effective interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills.
