Title:  Structural Engineering Co-op Student - Fall 2025 (Trail, BC)

 

Position Summary:

 

Hatch is currently looking for a Civil Engineering Student for a 4-month co-op starting in the Fall of 2025.  Candidates should demonstrate an interest in the field of Structural Engineering to assist the Structural Discipline in Hatch, Trail, BC. The role is to provide review, analysis and design support, and research of material for the Engineers and other Technologists.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, design calculations, material takeoff, literature review, technical specifications, and reports for energy and industrial projects.
  • Use of CAD tools for 2D drawing and 3D model reviews.
  • Provide support for progress reporting and assessment of various ongoing engineering tasks.
  • Interface with staff to support project as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate will be a 3rd or 4th year student working toward a degree in Civil Engineering with specific interest in structural analysis and design. Successful completion of, or enrollment in structural engineering courses is required. 
  • Familiarity with CAD/Design software applications such as MathCAD, Excel, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, Microstation and AutoCAD will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated writing and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
  • High regard for job safety and quality work; Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Extracurricular involvement; enthusiastic and ambitious.
