We are actively seeking to hire a motivated and experienced Intermediate Bridge Engineer based in Vancouver BC responsible for providing technical leadership and managing a variety of small to large-scale high-profile public structural engineering projects, focusing on the design and delivery of bridges, overpasses, and related infrastructure.
The role will be challenging, interesting, varied, and offer significant opportunities for skill set and career development. You will be required to work within a growing team environment carrying out feasibility, assessment, design, project engineering/management and construction support services on a large variety of bridge and other structural engineering assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:
• Preparing preliminary and detailed structural designs and engineering calculations.
• Preparing technical reports, specifications, and contract documents.
• Performing structural analysis and design for bridges, foundations, retaining walls, and other transportation infrastructure using 2D and 3D analysis tools.
• Developing structural details and construction drawings using software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Conducting design reviews and quality assurance checks of drawings and contract documents.
• Providing technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers, technologists, and technicians.
• Coordinating structural design activities with other engineering disciplines.
• Supporting the project management and delivery of structural engineering assignments.
• Preparing construction cost estimates and supporting project budgeting and cost control.
• Providing construction-phase engineering services, including review of shop drawings, responses to RFIs, and site inspections, as required.
• Supporting strategic initiatives, client relationships, business development activities, and long-term business growth objectives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized and accredited university.
• 5-10 years of experience in bridge engineering, including design and rehabilitation of transportation structures.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration in British Columbia and/or Alberta.
• Demonstrated experience with a recognized consulting engineering firm.
• Strong knowledge of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC) and/or AASHTO bridge design standards.
• Experience in the preliminary and detailed design of new bridges and the rehabilitation of existing concrete and steel structures.
• Proficiency with industry-standard bridge analysis and design software, Microsoft Office, and drafting platforms such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
• Familiarity with relevant agency, regulatory, and approval processes related to bridge engineering projects.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and successfully deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring and supporting junior staff.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
