Hatch is seeking a Rail Systems Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with interest in Rail Systems. Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer you will support offices globally working from our Vancouver, BC office location.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out tasks for projects in the field of Rail Systems which covers: advanced train control systems, application software and simulation, traction power, communications (Radio, Fiber optics, CCTV, Intercom, Public Announcement), SCADA, signalling systems, crossing warning systems, electrical, and testing and commissioning; 
  • Assist with technical design reviews and calculations checks; 
  • Coordination with other technicians and related disciplines to produce design deliverables; 
  • Assist in the design of various deliverable types for rail systems; 
  • Assist senior engineers and designers as and when needed; 
  • Contribute to overall needs for project completion; 
  • Improve technical communication and report writing skills.

 

You bring to the role:

  • Graduate with an Electrical, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering (or equivalent) degree from an accredited University; 
  • 1 – 2 years’ experience in a similar role is an asset;
  • Interested in rail systems as a career; 
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D and MicroStation; 
  • Extracurricular involvement is considered an asset; 
  • Knowledge or experience in a consultancy environment undertaking infrastructure projects, will be an asset; 
  • Ability to work in a team environment with multidisciplinary interaction;
