Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Rail Technician/Designer to join our dynamic Rail & Transit team located in our Vancouver office.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver civil engineering design and drawings as part of a team on rail infrastructure projects
  • Work alongside engineers, other discipline designers and drafters within the team and the wider office in the development of both 2D and 3D CAD design, calculations, drawings and specifications
  • Design track and railway infrastructures in accordance with the quality objectives and applicable regulations, laws and standards
  • Design, create drawings and perform drafting tasks with minimal supervision
  • Perform the various steps of the project according to the deadlines
  • Perform other related duties as may contribute to the realization of projects

 

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent Technical Program from an accredited institution
  • 3+ years’ experience working for an engineering consultancy within the rail sector
  • Heavy rail design experience in addition to metro and/or light rail design experience is appreciated
  • Experience in civil infrastructure, road alignment, grading and drainage design, and construction would be an asset
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Having experience in the use of applicable railway industry standards
  • Excellent AutoCAD capabilities
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D is a must
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with the various parties involved in the process
  • Time management skills and ability to adapt to change
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams
