Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Transit Systems Consultant to join our North American Infrastructure group to support work preferably in the Northeast US region.
In this role, the ideal candidate is Transit System specialist with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must have knowledge of core Transit System concepts and have a minimum of 1 years of professional systems experience. Experience working in the Automated Fare Payment ecosystem is preferred.
As the successful candidate, you will:
- Be comfortable working onsite in a lab environment as needed
- Create, modify, and review design documents and technical specifications
- Prepare technical briefs, presentations and reports that identify work progress, defects/non-conformances, and areas of concern.
- Direct collaboration with vendors as a representative of the client
- Have a general understanding of contractual language and obligations
- Review and approve vendor submittals
- Review training and manuals and maintenance procedures
- Participate in and lead technical working sessions to address issues raised by clients
- Inspect and review prototype and first article equipment and prepare detailed descriptions of review findings.
- Basic understanding of implementing a test plan and procedure.
- Assist in test and commissioning Transit system equipment and software.
- Ability to work independently under the direction of a senior staff
- Participate in quality assurance and manufacturing audits.
- Monitor system performance and adherence to KPIs and SLAs
- Assist with the conduct of forensic investigations of failed components and equipment and reporting findings under the direction of senior staff.
- Provide technical support to other team members as required
- Participate in local and national professional organizations
You bring to the role:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or related field
- One or more years of progressive experience
- Ability to give direction to other staff as needed, supervise workgroups
- Experience in the transportation industry
- Basic knowledge of Transit systems such as fare payment technologies, GIS, GPS location, CAD/AVL, Mobity as a Service (MaaS), wayfinding, GTFS and open data standards
- Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills
- Basic understanding of SQL Database and ability to perform basic database query
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, work well within a team, self-starter, take direction from other senior staff members, be able to multi-task on a variety of work assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to travel to various client sites as needed

Compensation range depends on education, major, experience (overall), and interview skills. For ideal candidates, the compensation range can be $65,000 - $90,000 annually. Please feel free to contact us for information on additional compensation and programs.
