Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Railway Signalling Engineer to join the Infrastructure group in our Rail Systems team in one of the Western Canada locations (Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, or Mississauga) on a contract basis.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Provision of consultancy and specialist technical services to new and existing customers;
  • Participation in the planning, development, design, verification & commissioning of signaling systems;
  • Perform detailed train control system application design including:
    • Hardware applications
    • Software applications
    • Control Lines and Aspect Charts
    • Calculation of approach times and distances, braking distances, electrical loads, etc.
  • Review construction submittals for compliance with contract documents and industry standards;
  • Prepare contract documentation including plans and specifications for train control system construction contracts;
  • Prepare construction cost estimates for train control system work;
  • Liaise with client on a regular basis and address client needs;
  • Project management and coordination;
  • Prepare design and construction schedules;
  • Coordination with vendors, contractors, other consultants and clients;
  • Coordination with third parties like utilities, regulatory authorities and municipal organizations;
  • Monitor performance against budget and schedule;
  • Comply with company quality requirements.

 

You bring to the role:

  • 15+ years’ experience in the development, design and delivery of railway and/or transit signal system solutions;
  • Must be familiar with railway signaling and train control principles, circuits, industry standards, Transport Canada and/or FRA regulations, and AREMA guidelines;
  • Ability to plan and produce compliant signaling schemes with minimum supervision;
  • Experience with a variety of railway signaling and train control technologies including relay applications, vital and non-vital microprocessor hardware and software applications, track circuits, signals, switch machines and highway-railway grade crossing systems;
  • Capable of completing work in a controlled environment to meet client, budget and schedule requirements;
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with multiple disciplines;
  • Results oriented with proven decision-making skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
