We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects across the mining, industrial, and energy sectors.
In this role, you will lead and execute geotechnical investigations, advanced numerical modelling, and geotechnical/geological design. This opportunity is well suited to a technically strong engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys mentoring others, and is motivated by challenging, high-impact work.
You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of geotechnical studies and design solutions, from early concept through to detailed design and site support. This includes preparing and reviewing technical documentation, embedding safety-in-design principles, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and engineering integrity. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to innovation and technical excellence, and provide specialist advice to both project and site teams. A key part of the role will also involve mentoring junior engineers, supporting their development, and fostering knowledge sharing across the broader business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical and geomechanics studies, ensuring outcomes meet project scope, quality, and technical standards.
- Deliver geotechnical design solutions across conceptual and detailed stages, including calculations, specifications, and reports.
- Support business development and proposals, including scope definition and cost input.
- Mentor and develop team members, contributing to a strong and collaborative technical culture.
- Provide technical oversight and governance, including design reviews and approval of deliverables where applicable.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to deliver practical, high-quality solutions and build strong relationships.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in civil, Geotechnical, Geological, or Environmental Engineering.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist.
- 10+ years’ experience in geotechnical design.
- Proven experience working in multidisciplinary project environments.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, Bentley, Leapfrog, or similar.
- Strong understanding of geotechnical design codes and standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to safety and quality.
